This blazer has been on my mind ever since I saw it on Target's header on the women's clothing section online. It is just the right color pallet (too bad I missed the green one earlier this year). It was a mission to find this blazer locally. I didn't want to buy it online without trying it...turns out it runs big. Anyway, I'm glad I was able to find and used my Cartwheel app for the 20% discount (woot, woot)! So far, I haven't found the right jeans to wear as a laid back look, so I styled with it some shiny black leggings from H&M purchased a few years ago. I'm on a lookout for navy blue trousers as well to wear them with this jacket among other ones I have.
By the way, can we talk about mixing patterns!? I think that leopard print is like the "neutral" in the pattern game, which is why I wore my Steve Maddens (they're my go-to). I loved how it looked. Warning though...it may not go with every pattern (i.e. the glen plaid).
p.s. I was having a bad hair day...ugh!

Happy belated Halloween! I celebrated Halloween by giving out candy at out new house. We had trick-or-treaters in our new neighborhood. It was exciting to give candy to the children (and the older kids) and see their cute costumes and hear their high pitched voices screaming "trick or treat!"
I wanted to share these photos of my nephew, Jimmie. He is 5 years old and is the cutest kid ever! He was dressed as one of the members of the Avengers, Captain America. He was being a little stubborn while I was snapping, but I managed to get some good shots.

H&M Blouse | Target Baseball Cap | H&M Coat | H&M Boyfriend Jeans | Forever 21Necklace | Kate Spade Handbag | Steve Madden Heels
Where do you start when you style an outfit? I sometimes start with shoes...like in this current craving. I saw these Steve Madden heels and went on from there (can you believe they are on sale? They're $99.98!!!). I decided to keep it neutral for a more sophisticated look with the blacks and whites. These boyfriend jeans from H&M look a little edgy with the rest of the ensemble and gives it that balance of chic yet laid back. And guess what? They're also on sale (until 10/31/13 online) for $19.95! I'm definitely buying these. Can we talk about the hat, though. I'm sure you all have seen them around lately. I stumbled across this hat when I googled searched for "leather baseball caps." I think that Target nailed it with this faux leather. I love that matte black necklace too. It's definitely a staple for this fall.
Stay tuned for more current cravings...

I was at Target a few days ago and every time I go (well, most of the time), I like to check out the "clearance" clothing section. I stumbled upon this Xhilaration skirt and I knew I had to have it. The color, the style, not the mention the price...it was perfect to wear with a sweater (I liked Song of Style's look and it's been a little chilly lately here in LA). Also, these earrings were a score! They were also on clearance and they resemble some of Bauble Bar's jewelry. Overall, it was a great day for bargain finds.
One more thing...this 3.1 Phillip Lim x Target sweater is on clearance as well. Yay!

What are your thoughts about concert t-shirts? I find them to be a great way to support the artist (or band). I also like that you can keep them as souvenirs for the future...you know..like the vintage Rolling Stones and The Beatles, but I also like them because they can make a great way to add character to your casual pants..like in this case. I wore it to contrast the chic pants and add that "bad ass" touch to the ensemble. Also, a necklace is a great way to make it more feminine.
Speaking of concert tees, my sister and I attended the Kanye West show Saturday night at Staples (c/o KIIS FM..I won over the radio ^_^). It was such a well performed show...the stage, the set list, his wardrobe, his way of expressing his "thoughts" was inspiring. We both had a great time...not to mention our seats were killer. It was a great Saturday night.
p.s. this is our new backyard. More photos to come in the near future.
p.p.s. I LOVE the pattern of these trousers...

Remember when I posted the plaid jacket from Target on my facebook page? Well, I finally got my hands on one and I LOVE IT! The fit is great and the color combinations really makes it feel like an autumn piece. It's a "go-to" when you have black pants and a white shirt...just add a statement necklace and you're good.
p.s. I have really been into messy buns. Can you tell?

During the weekend, we visited multiple sites including Santa Cruz, UC Santa Cruz, Highway 1 (back at it), stopped at a local town for food (Pescadero), Bob's Pumpkin Patch in Half Moon Bay (being stuck in traffic for 2 hours), eating by the beach in Capitola, and finally stopping by Martinelli's Saturday started in Santa Cruz after a long ride on Friday. Originally we planed on going to the boardwalk, but there was a festival in town that practically blocked the route. Thanks to Bill's and John's knowledge of the city, we managed to make our way to an area where you can see the boardwalk, hear the sea lions, and go in the surfing museum. (By the way, did you know that surfing was first brought to Santa Cruz in 1885?)

After leaving the beach, we drove by UC Santa Cruz. Let me tell you...it has an amazing campus! It's on a hill filled with trees. It's green everywhere you look! I loved it! It's such a laid back atmosphere.

The next stop stop after leaving UCSC was a little town off of Highway 1 called Pescadero. We stopped for food and drinks before heading to the pumpkin patch in Half Moon Bay. Unfortunately, most of the photographs from that location were deleted. I managed to only salvage a few, including one of Bill. This little town seemed like one of those in Hollywood in a horror movie (maybe because of the insane amount of fog).

One of the highlights for me on our trip was visiting a "real" pumpkin patch...not one of those LA ones where you pay admission and you are forced to buy tickets for games. Bill and John had actually been there before...many, many years ago. In a sense, this was like a mandatory stop. It was a unique special experience and there were so many photo opportunities. I almost want to make this a tradition...where every year we'll go to pick some pumpkins to bring back to our new house.

Sunday was an amazing fun day, except for that one of the holes in my jeans spread open and now you can basically see my entire thigh. On our way back to LA, we stopped by Capitola... a nice little beach town by the Monterey Bay coast . We ate across the Venitian, which is a a hotel right by the beach painted in wonderful colors. It reminded me of a European type of town. All the colors made for a perfect background for street style photos.

This trestle in Capitola has been our of service for years, which means no train runs through, which means....exploring the trestle. Walking through the tracks made me fee like we were in a Stephen King book..."you guys wanna go see a dead body?" lol. As we arrived at the trestle, I became scared. The old wood and the gap between the tracks )you can see directly down) made me a little scared. I then quickly asked John to snap some photos and then I immediately walked back.

After wrapping up in Capitola, we were back on the road and made our last stop, Watsonville. This little town was filled with great architecture AND it is where Martinelli's Cider headquarters is. I love their apple cider.

Overall, my birthday weekend was filled with adventures and couldn't ask for a better time. Thank you, babe!

Last Thursday, was my 27th life anniversary. I planned our trip a few months ago when I purchased concert tickets to see Atoms For Peace at the Santa Barbara Bowl on the day of my birthday. Since we were going to be up north, I then had the idea of driving further up and finally drive Highway 1 (the scenery route to go north), stop for awesome Vista Points, go to Hearst Castle, the Mystery Spot, spontaneous adventures and finally stop over in Santa Cruz. Because it was my birthday weekend, I wanted to include my "2" and "7" balloons at any place that we stopped for a fun post. Of course, one them popped in the car, due to heat in San Luis Obispo, and we didn't find a party supply store to replace it.
As life would have it, we didn't have enough time to do everything on the list. John said that I wanted to do a lot in such little time (we had 3 days). We ended up stopping by Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, San Simeon Beach, Santa Cruz, Capitola, Watsonville and drive Highway 1! The Golden Coast is breathtaking.
Proud to live in California.

This place is called Marianne's Ice Cream. They have a wonderful selection of ice-cream flavors. They're second popular flavor is Mud Pie. Thursday and Friday's adventures were great. Highway 1, however, was a long ride with many, many curves! Stay tuned for Sat & Sun.

Black and gray; they compliment each other in such a fresh classic way. This is a laid back/chic look and it looks effortless. The cotton skirt and v-neck makes this such a laid back look. All you need is a pair of amazing heels, a statement necklace, and a pop of mirror sunnies...and BOOM! You have a laid back/chic look. Try it.
