You can't go to New York without visiting the MoMA. People need to go see all the original art work and appreciate that our country has them available. Although I went earlier in the year, I couldn't resist and showing my friends everything that the city has to offer including original paintings from Van Gogh, Picasso, Monet, and Dali. After leaving the MoMA, we walked through downtown and stumbled upon 30 Rock and the NBC Experience Store (bought me a FNL t-shirt). We were on a schedule, which prevented us from going to the top of the Rock among other things. After much walking, we were hungry and moved on to Little Italy, a strip of Italian restaurants and welcomed to the public. We ate at Benito 1 and enjoyed the outdoors while eating our authentic Italian food. The last thing on our agenda for the day was to visit the Brooklyn Bridge. We were lucky enough to have such a gorgeous photo background. The sun was the setting, the bridge lights were turned on and it made it for a perfect photo. It was beautiful! Last time I was on this bridge there was a snow storm and we still managed to walk the whole bridge. We asked a couple of girls to snap a photo of all of us and as a returned favor, I snapped a photo with my DSLR and e-mailed it to them. They were from Jersey and were very nice. Thank you! After hours of getting ready for a date with the night, we walked a couple blocks down to a nightclub called Pacha. Let me tell you...nightlife in NYC is very expensive! What you don't pay for a car in you make up in cover fees and other things. Pacha was a European style nightclub and were open til 4 a.m. It was nice to finally experience the nightlife with girlfriends. NY Starbucks PACHA Nightclub dress: Forever 21; hat, sandals: UO
Our second day in New York was as hot as the first one, except it rained a little. New York pedestrian traffic is no joke. We walked through Grand Central Station and OMG...we couldn't walk through without bumping into people. It was insane. We managed, however, to walk through SoHo and shop and eat at America's first pizzeria...Lombardi's. I've never tasted such delicious pizza ever! It was an orgasm in my mouth...I wish they could deliver to L.A. While walking in SoHo, the "Queerballs" group marched through the street chanting their song, "We'e here, we're queer. We're fabulous don't fuck with us." This past weekend was Pride and everyone came out and joined. I really like how their togetherness brings excitement. In the evening, we hit up Chelsea. We actually went to the Standard to go into Le Bain. While making line, an Italian group asked us to be a part of their group because they needed females to get it. That was out ticket in...you were only allowed if you were on their list. After going in with no cover, we managed to go the french themed roof top (they a little crepe shack) and WOW...it was beautiful. The scenery was amazing. It was very mod and hip. Definitely a place you should go if you are in New York. "we're here, we're queer. We're fabulous don't fuck with us!" John and I went to go see Super 8 at Del Amo. Really liked the film...it made me want to go watch The Goonies and Stand By Me again. All the kids in these films are such great actors! Other than that, we just browsed through the promenade. Nothing really got my attention...maybe it's because I'm going to New York next week =) p.s. Finally I had the chance to see Friendly Fires live. I missed them a couple of months ago, but I guess patience paid off. It was a free show that was a part of the Jimmy Kimmel Live outdoor concert series. They were soooo good! And entertaining too.
