John's father graced us with his presence on Friday. He was visiting from up north, as I mentioned last post and we all had a day off to spend with him. Firstly, we all hav breakfast/lunch at The Original Pancake House. My god...it was soood good! Thanks to my best friend, Patrice, for introducing me to that place. <3
After eating such goodness, we walked it off by going to Westfield Shopping Center in Culver City. I shopped for Lollapalooza and then some (pattens, shorts, bohemian looks). After spending my hard working money, we all felt walking in an outdoor atmoshere and headed towards Redondo Beach Boradwalk. Walked for about 20 mins and enjoyed the breeze on a summer day. I even had to throw on my parka.
It was a good say spent with John's father. Him sharing all this wonderful stories about him traveling with his father when he was a teen and all the cool shows that he attended (i.e. The Doors, the Beach Boys, Four Tops...). I think it's brilliant that I know a person who was part of that era where in High School you danced to The Beatles. I'm looking forward to listen to more.

How does one celebrate the 4th of July? Well, I spent it at work and then migrated over to my parent's house for a family bbq and fireworks. Mom was grilling Carne Ranchera with Spanish rice, sauces, and salads...yummy! Everyone was hanging out (sisters, boyfriends, parents, brother, nephew). Spending time with the family is something that I have missed ever since middle school days. It was honestly a good holiday. shorts, blouse, rings, necklace: Forever 21; boots: Wet Seal; bag: MANGO photos by John, Jesse, and myself for more photos, click here.
Friday was my little brother's birthday (Happy Birthday Jesse) and we did a couple of things. In the morning, we all went hiking at Runyon Canyon (as usual) as my birthday gift to him ;). After sweating and huffing and puffing, Jesse and I went to a vintage shop called Retro Reload. If you are in the southbay area, it's near you. It's on PCH towards Rolling Hills. I actually went to this store a couple of days prior to purchasing the vintage Gucci bag that you see below and purchased a top for $5. Unbelievable! Other people's trash can be my treasure. ha! Anyway, after the day went by, we came accross a FIREWORKS bungalow and I decided to buy us some sparklers and some fireworks for my brother. As we were browsing, I found it schocking that people pay crazy amounts of money for firework packages. There was one called the "Big Bang." It was priced at $500. $500!!! That's like 2 pair of shoes...sheesh! After all that shenanigans, we all went to dinner at STACKED. This place is nice, although everything is a la carte. They use iPads for customers to order their food. You pretty much don't need a waiter (only when they bring your food to the table.) You can customize your burgers, pizzas, sandwhiches (cookie too), milshakes, etc. on their app that's preloaded on the iPad. i enjoyed my food and my experience. You should check it out.
my parent's house number. I thought it was cool that it had the flag.

Another Thursday, another day off. While John is in Nashville, TN, my day started by watching Friday Night Lights Season 1 while getting ready for my day(outfit is below). I literally had nothing planned except for visiting my parent's home. While visiting my folks, I checked my phone for new notifications. I received an exciting fwd e-mail from my dear friend Jason. The e-mail stated that KROQ will be playing The Remainer's song "House" this Sunday, April 24th as part of the "Locals Only" show with Kat Corbett. I was super excited and proud of the band for their success. I can't wait for what's to come for this band. They deserve everything and more! As the sun was the setting, it was time to leave home and drive back to my cozy little room. I then checked Facebook and saw my friends (Jeremy, John, and Matt) were checked in at South Coast Soccer City and I immediately rushed to support them. (I kept meaning to attend a match and I finally had free time.) It was a very fast paced game and the team really needed to put more work. Although they lost the match, I know they will come through with a W soon. jacket: Cotton On; shirt: H&M; skirt, necklace, earings: Forever21; sandals: Target, clutch: American Apparel photos by Jesse V and me.
